Congratulations – you have multiple Offers! This stuff pays off! But seriously, this is a tricky position to be in. If you receive an offer from a company but you really want an offer from another company, be excited and gracious but let the recruiter know that you need a few days to think about it. It’s o.k. – you really do need to absorb the offer and think about whether or not it’s the right move for you. You do not want to be taking any old job that comes along only to find out you don’t like it, and then move on. This will look really bad on your resume and recruiters will wonder why you made such bad decisions in accepting jobs you did not stay with.
Once you have the offer you may not really want, call the recruiter from the company you really do want, and let him know about the offer you received. This may spur the hiring team to move a little bit more quickly. That said, you should not necessarily pin your hopes on the company you want; if they tell you they simply cannot move any more quickly than they already are, it might mean that you were one of the first interviews and they need to interview more candidates, or it might mean they do not plan to offer you the job. Either way, think about the offer you have and decide what’s best for you, where you think you will be happiest.
